What Happened to My Macarons?!!!

"A good Macaron has a perfect round shiny dome with “feet” around the base. The shell is crisp and delicate on the outside, giving way to light moist meringue that dissolves in your mouth."

...

Hmm. Yeah, I hit the rock-bottom of French macarons.:)))

French macarons - tasty little confections that in my opinion look even prettier than they taste. If you have a look at any french macaron recipe, you'd see that the ingredients are common and the equipment used, minimal. Ah yes, the secret to the perfect macaron is something not explicitly written in any recipe: mastery of technique.

You need technique to produce those tiny little "feet" at the base, to get that meringue shell to rise and become smooth and crisp. One extra fold, a couple of degrees over, a minute of drying under could all lead to a disaster.

Now the beauty with baking macarons, the silver lining of all this, is a) the ingredients are common and b) practice brings you closer to mastering the techniques needed. So I'm gonna put on my apron tomorrow and do this thing over again.

'Cause sometimes you need ugly macarons in your life to remind you that you've got a whole lot to learn.;)
